Our Advocacy in Winnipeg
We advocate for practical solutions that help businesses grow and create a city where everyone can thrive. From streamlining permitting to revitalizing downtown, we work directly with the Mayor and City Council, City staff, and key committees to move Winnipeg forward.
Our Civic Priorities
We’ve built our municipal advocacy around issues that matter most to our members and what it takes to build a stronger, more competitive city.
- Permitting and Red Tape Reduction
- Winnipeg should be the easiest city in Canada to do business. We’re pushing for a fully digitized, consistent, and predictable permitting system that supports housing, commercial, and industrial growth.
- Downtown Recovery and Safety
- A thriving city needs a vibrant, safe downtown. We’re calling for investment in housing, infrastructure, public safety, and a robust plan that brings people back to the heart of our city.
- Infrastructure for Growth
- We advocate for long-term investment in roads, transit, and utilities that connect businesses, support trade, and unlock new development.
- Zoning and Land Use Reform
- We support flexible, modern rules that encourage infill, density, and mixed-use growth, along with clear processes and timely approvals.
- Housing Affordability
- We need more homes of all types, and that means reducing financial barriers, eliminating parking minimums, and using tools like the Housing Accelerator Fund to fast-track approvals.
- Taxation and Fiscal Policy
- Businesses need a stable, and predictable tax environment that supports growth. We’re calling for the elimination of the municipal business tax and more transparency in how decisions are made.
- City Innovation and Service Modernization
- City services must be modernized to respond to evolving current realities and meet the digital expectations of today. We advocate for AI integration into service delivery, digital permitting, and smarter systems that make it easier to interact with City Hall.
