ABOUT OUR KEYNOTES
Cori Poon, Founder
sweet C bakery
Cori Poon found her entrepreneurial spirit at the young age of 12 selling baking at the local farmers market and fair in her home town. Growing up on a farm that made little to no money she saw her parents do whatever jobs they could to put food on the table - this is how she started to understand business.
She graduated high school and continued to work in the public and private sector for 8 more years before starting her family. When her and her husband had their first child money was tight so she started sweet C bakery as a way to help pay the bills. She started selling at local craft sales and small town farmer markets around the Winnipeg area. Her vision for sweet C bakery was combining the deliciousness of fresh baked items but with the convenience of online shopping. Her model was an online bakery.
Over five years she grew her business from small markets and craft sales to international trade shows, eventually landed her products on store shelves while building an online store. In 2015 she was the recipient of the Gold Medal in the Great Manitoba Food Fight.
Her husband has since joined the team and they now ship their products around the world, opened up a storefront / manufacturing facility and with more than 15 skus on retail shelves across North America. They are in the midst of launching two new lines of gourmet sweets for their online store and are working with various retailers to expand their list of wholesaler channels.
