A profile of community leadership
The Leadership Winnipeg program includes a team project. The project for 2017/18 will focus on research and strategic planning to establish an Alumni Society incorporating programming for the over 400 Leadership Winnipeg graduates that have participated in the program.
For the 2016/17 year, the class selected community projects with three organizations recommended by The Winnipeg Foundation and Volunteer Manitoba. The teams worked closely with the organizations, undertaking fundraising projects that were intended to be lasting and have impact. Their projects included the first-ever fundraising event for the Canadian Muslim Womens’ Institute, “Jamilla,” the annual Star Blanket event for the LITE Foundation (Local Investment Toward Employment), and the annual Great Manitoba Portage event and 60th Anniversary commemorative CD for the Manitoba Camping Association
For the classes of 2011 to 2015, the project consisted of researching, writing and publishing a book profiling community leaders. The class determined who to profile, the interview questions, and how the information was presented.
