Leadership Winnipeg Delivers Initial Thoughts on Vision for City
Leadership Winnipeg class presents words that describe our city From giving a voice to Winnipeg's arts and cultural community, based on The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce as a model, to taking down the barricades at Portage and Main, the Leadership Winnipeg Class of 2008-2009 presented their findings from community consultations hosted this past year. The 19 participants of Leadership Winnipeg helped The Chamber in its Vision Winnipeg project, looking through five "lenses" - arts and culture, economic opportunity, a sustainable city, downtown and human rights - at what could be the "big ideas" for how our city can change and grow. Graduates of Leadership Winnipeg Recognized
Karen Hodgson, one of 19 graduates of Leadership Winnipeg, poses with certificate Last week, 19 participants in the Leadership Winnipeg program completed a year-long journey of self and community discovery. Leadership Winnipeg, founded by Volunteer Manitoba Inc. and The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, recognizes that all people are leaders in their own right, but everyone starts in a different place. The program provides those wanting to serve their community with the tools, knowledge and connections to enhance their skills. Congratulations go out to the graduates of the Class of 2008-2009: Jeremy Akerstream, Mark Chan, Jeff Dzikowicz, Christine Ens, Felicity Forbister, Shaun Gray, Raelene Hanna, Karen Hodgson, Tracy Kosowan, Brenda Kowaluk, Trevor Krahn, Andrea Ladouceur, Marc Lavoie, Sheri Linstead, Jennifer McFadyen, Nazra Mian, Lisa Tanasichuk, Tim Walker and Fairy Wong. The Chamber has begun recruiting for the Class of 2009-2010. For further information, contact: Wendy Stephenson, 944-3317 or wstephenson@winnipeg-chamber.com. Consider Season Tickets for Chamber Membership Luncheons This past year, we heard from the likes of Michael McCain, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Foods; Gail Asper, director of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights; and Phil Fontaine, grand chief of the Assembly of First Nations. And next year, we will hear from Frank McKenna, former Canadian Ambassador to the U.S., as well as Paul Soubry, CEO of New Flyer Industries, to name just a few. We'd encourage you to purchase season tickets, which will result in savings, premium seating and the convenience of not having to register for each luncheon. For more information or to book your seats, please contact: Christine Ens, 944-3313 or cens@winnipeg-chamber.com.
Join us this Friday from 8 - 9 a.m. in the Signature Boardroom, 2nd floor, 259 Portage Ave. for conversation and a final cup of coffee before we take a break for the summer. We will be discussing a topic briefly touched on last time - how we can better promote our city. We're also eager to hear what else is on your mind.
