CHAMBER PLANS TO “BE BOLD” WITH RELEASE OF NEW THREE-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN

October 5, 2011 – Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce Chair Brian Bowman outlined The Chamber’s BOLD new three year strategic plan today, which will build upon the recently launched Manitoba BOLD policy platform and continue to encourage and influence government, business and the general public to pursue BOLD new actions that enhance our community and make economic development a priority.

“It is time to be BOLD and to guarantee Winnipeg a place on the world stage”, said Bowman a partner with PITBLADO Law. “Over the course of the next three years we will elevate our thinking to be aggressive in putting all the pieces of the economic puzzle together to shape our future and increase prosperity for all Manitobans.”

“Be Bold” is a three-year strategic plan (2011-2014) that will leverage the opportunities and strengths in this province. It is about communicating, engaging, lobbying and creating excitement about change. It is about shifting the focus to the next phase - attracting people to our city as tourists and creative talent, developing an international mindset and action plan, celebrating our successes and leveraging the expertise of our membership for the benefit of the business community.

Over the next three years, The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce will focus its energy at policy development, initiatives and programs related to:

·                    BOLD Ideas that enhance prosperity for all Manitobans

·                    Winnipeg as an International City

·                    Attracting and Retaining Our People

·                    Increasing Membership Value

“Over the past number of years The Chamber has continued to see strong growth in our membership and a strong focus on policy development,” said Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dave Angus. “Our membership and our Board of Directors believe that now is the time that we leverage that growth and the credibility of our organization to initiate and create a BOLD future for Manitoba.”
