BJ Reid, chair, The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce
BJ Reid was sworn in as the 76th chair of The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce (Winnipeg Board of Trade) on Oct. 16, 2009, having previously served on The Chamber’s board of directors, executive committee and audit and finance committee.
BJ is vice-president, Finance, Funds Financial Services, with Investors Group, where she is responsible for the financial and management reporting and controllership functions for 150-plus Investors Group mutual funds.
BJ is a chartered accountant and has a Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Honours) from the University of Manitoba. Prior to joining Investors Group in 1997, she spent seven years in Bermuda with a chartered accounting firm, serving clients in the insurance and investment fund industries.
She is active with the Investment Fund Institute of Canada (IFIC) Accounting Advisory Working Group and has served on many of its committees, including those addressing IFRS, CICA Sections 3855 and 3862, NAV Errors, Fair Value Pricing and NI 81-106.
BJ is a member of the CICA Standing Committee on Financial Reporting for Investment Funds, and also served on its predecessor Research Group.
She is also a director of the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba and a member of its audit committee.
