CHAMBER TO GET INSIDER’S VIEW OF THE VANCOUVER 2010 OLYMPICS AT NEXT LUNCHEON
March 1, 2010 – With the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics now complete, The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Dick Pound, lawyer with Stikeman Elliott and member of the International Olympic Committee since 1978, will deliver the keynote address at the next Membership Luncheon on Thursday, March 18.
Pound, who is also a member of the VANOC Board of Directors and supported Vancouver’s bid for the 2010 Games as a director of the Vancouver 2010 Bid Corporation, will provide an insider's perspective on how the games went for the Vancouver Organizing Committee.
Over the course of his Olympic involvement, Pound has been involved in virtually every aspect of the Olympic Games. He is a longtime executive board member and vice-president of the IOC, where he was responsible for all Olympic television negotiations, marketing and sponsorships. He also participated in numerous Olympic commissions as a chairman or member, including commissions for the co-ordination of the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games; study of the Olympic Games; and eligibility.
